A version of a burger to eat with a knife and fork! You can also serve the Sloppy Joe filling in taco shells.
*INGREDIENTS
° 1 1/2 lb lean ground beef
° 1 onion, finely chop
° 1 small red pepper, seeded and finely chopped
° 15 ml (1 tbsp.) Chili powder
° 5 ml (1 teaspoon) dry mustard
° 30 ml (2 tbsp.) Oil-Olive
° 60 ml tomato-paste
° 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
° 250 ml (1 cup) chicken broth
° 1/2 cup (125 ml) chili sauce
° 30 ml (2 tbsp.) White vinegar
° 30 ml (2 tbsp.) Brown sugar
° 15 ml (1 tbsp.) Worcestershire sauce
° Salt and pepper
° 4 large hamburger buns
° 8 hamburger buns
° 1 1/2 cups (375 ml) grated sharp yellow cheddar cheese
* PREPERATION :
In a large skillet, brown the meat, onion, peppers and spices in the oil. Salt and pepper.
Add the tomato paste, garlic and continue cooking for 1 minute, stirring. Add the rest of the ingredients except the breads and cheese and bring to a boil.
Cover and simmer over low heat for about 15 minutes. Adjust seasoning.
Toast the buns and top with the meat and cheese mixture.
