A classic dish from your childhood to rediscover... This dish from Quebec culinary traditions can be prepared in the oven as well as in the slow cooker.
*Ingredients
° 10 leaves of Savoy cabbage (curly)
° 1 1/2 pounds (675 g) lean ground beef
° 250 ml (1 cup) cooked rice
° 1 scrambled egg
° 1 chopped onion
° 45 ml (3 tsp) chop parsley
° 10 ml (2 teaspoons) minced garlic
° Salt and pepper to taste
° 500 ml (2 cups) tomato sauce
° 1/2 c (125 ml) chicken-broth
* Methods
In-saucepan of boil salted water, cooking cabbage leaves about 5 min . Cool it under ice water and drain.
In a bowl, combine ground beef, rice, eggs, onion, parsley, garlic, and spices.
Lay five sheets of cabbage on a work surface.
In the center of each sheet, put about 60 ml (a quarter cup) of the filling.
Fold the sides of the leaves over the meat. Roll up tightly.
Repeat for the rest of the cabbage and stuffing.
In a bowl, mix the tomato sauce with the broth.
Pour half of this preparation into a slow cooker.
Add cigars to cabbage. Pour the rest of the sauce.
Cover and cook over low heat for eight to ten hours or four to five hours on high heat.
