This beef stew is riich, satisfying, & comfortiing in bowl. A hearty and delicious soup loaded with juicy pieces of beef, barley, herbs and fresh vegetables !

* Ingredients :
° 1 pound roast, boneless, divided and cut into 1/2-inch pieces
° 1 12 cups thinly sliced carrots
° 1 1/2 c sliced celery
° 2/3 c chop onion
° 1 8 oz can slice-mushrooms
° 2 tablespoons ground beef (this is different from beef broth, which is the basis for making beef broth)
° 8-10 cups of water
° 1 large bay leaf
* Directions :
1. Roast the beef in a non-stick frying pan until browned, stirring constantly.
2. Remove beef from skillet and place in crockpot, add carrots, celery, onions, mushrooms, beef base, water, garlic and bay leaf.
3. Simmer over high heat for 1 hour, then add pearl barley, reduce and cook until vegetables and beef are tender. Mix it with salt and pepper.
4. Discard the bay leaves.
